Fair Well Bear

Fair well Bear, we hardly knew ye! That lovable part man, part Sasquatch that would often greet our guests with a middle finger and an expletive has moved on to greener pastures. The great northeast will now have their share of Bear sightings as he reps cigars for Gran Habano.

Though parting is such sweet sorrow, we could also say, out with the old and in with the new! Yes, someone had to fill Bear’s shoes and that person is Brian. Like a caterpillar spinning a cocoon, Brian has been following the other staff and soaking up their knowledge like a sponge. Soon, our quiet little Brian will spread his wings and become another full-fledged ACL butterfly.  

Winding Down the Year

Winding Down:

The year is winding down now, but a lot has gone on.

We built a new parking lot!

If you drive through the main parking lot to the gravel road going to the back barns, you’ll find another parking lot behind the big barns. Now that we have that in place, we can do a few things.

First, with the weather changing, we ask that nobody parks on the grass behind the shop anymore. It always ends up a muddy mess during the winter. Use the new lot!

Events.

Second, we’re planning on stepping things up for next years events. We’d love to get some feedback from all of you so I’m sure we’ll send out some surveys so we can not only make our events bigger, but also better based on your input. That said, please make sure you get our emails and take part in the surveys attached.

We’ve got one more big event for the year! Mark your calendar! Dec. 10th, AVO will be in the house. We’ve got some high ticket raffle prizes along with great AVO deals. We hope to see everyone there.

June 2022

What the hell happened to June? It flew by without any blog post! Let’s try to think back and reflect on the month that flew by…

We reordered Micallef A’s. They’re limited production so they’re hard to keep stocked but we should have them on the shelves in July. We also started talking about a full blown Micallef Event. The mini event went well and the cigars are great, so why not go full scale with things. Details will get worked out and we’ll let you know when this is going to happen.

We had a My Father’s event for Father’s Day. It went over very well. Great attendance, great weather and just an all around good event. It seems like everyone enjoyed themselves. Big shouts out to 3 Jaye’s Food Truck and Carolina Brewing Company for coming out and being part of the event as well as everyone who came out and took advantage of some great cigar deals. We brought in a new line from Ferio Tego; The Metropolitan. We just got them in so we don’t have much feedback but Waylon likes them!

May 5th 2022

We started doing flash sales on Mondays. It seems like customers appreciate/like it. We’ll change the sale sticks every Monday so it’s always something different. We’re not going to tell you what they are or how much of a discount though!!! You’ll have to come in and find out for yourself!

This coming Monday (5/9/22) we’re going to do a movie night at 6pm. It should be fun. The weather has been perfect for sitting out on the back porch and since we have some new rocking chairs and a 75” TV, we might as well! You should come join us as we stream “The Batman.” We’ll bring the popcorn, you buy the smokes!!!

Other than that, not much is new to tell you. We’re getting ready for the Oliva/GOUGE wrestling/And Also With Cue event. This too should be fun for the whole family. Great BBQ, awesome Oliva cigar deals and of course, live wrestling. Gather the family, call a buddy, and everyone hop into one car because the only issue we foresee during this event will be parking…. But we’ve got a plan to fix it in the future ;)

May 3rd 2022

Things are heating up, which means summer is right around the corner. We’ve been keeping busy trying to get stock in faster than it goes out, but supply chain issues are still evident. Things do seam to be getting better though, so stick with us while things turn around.

We did our Micallef drawing. Condor was the big winner! Thank you for everyone that took part in our raffle. We hope to do more things like that for our customers.

We’ve got a big event coming up this month. The Oliva event on the 21st will be a little different than what we’ve done in the past. There will be live wrestling in a ring out back. Our very own Waylon will be getting into the ring for your entertainment. Since the ring and the food truck are both outdoors, we hope that this becomes a bit more of a family event than our usual cigar events. We will of course have everything set up inside for some great Oliva deals. And Matt will be there to answer all of your Oliva questions or pick out the right stick for you.

We picked up some more rocking chairs for the back patio. The evenings have been perfect for sitting back there with the TV and a great smoke. Feel free to try it out!

March 2022

What a heck of a month! We had our first event of the year on St. Patrick’s day. What an awesome turn out! We are so thankful for everyone that came out to support us and get some great deals on Alec Bradley cigars. We then had a “mini event” to officially welcome Micallef cigars into our humidor and again we were blown away by the support our customers showed for this brand. Then we finished the month strong with a Rocky Patel event. Nish Patel was here as a superstar for the brand. Despite some rain at the beginning of the event, we had a great turn out and the impossible happened, we had a food truck here! Crave Hot Dogs & BBQ had some awesome food and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Nish stuck around after the event and the top tier locker members to got smooze one-on-one. All in all, a great event!

We also made strides in the front merchant area. The shelves are up and a fresh coat of paint is on the walls. We would still like to redo some lighting, and we’re waiting on a new display for some lighters and cutters, but we’re pretty much all set for the front.

Ashton and Camacho switched places in the humidor. We think it looks better now, but we really just needed to make more room for the new La Aroma de Cuba Passion line from Ashton. It’s been a great addition to the humidor and we encourage everyone to try one.

As we move into April, we are going to do a raffle with Micallef. They offered up a nice golf package that includes a branded putter, golf balls, tee’s and more. All of our customers will get one raffle ticket for every purchase of 5 Micallef cigars through the month of April. We’ll pick one lucky winner the first part of May. Make sure you come in and get your tickets in. The tickets you get in the raffle, the better the chances are of winning!

"Remodeling" Continues!

We’ve heard from several of our customers how they hate when things get moved around in the humidor. Well, get ready to be pissed! We are going to start Monday with re-arranging the humidor. That means some things will be moved completely, while others are staying where they are but straightened up. Going through the humidor manufacturer by manufacturer is going to take some time, but please be patient. The reason we’re doing this is to try to get that humidor to a point were we can add one or two new or special cigars in with their manufacturer without having to move a lot of other cigars. The goal is to make is so things don’t move much in the humidor.

Donation to MLK Jr. Scholarship Fund

We wanted to take a moment and thank everyone that came in Monday the 17th (MLK Day) and purchased a cigar. We like to do fun little things on special days and promote it on Facebook. Yesterday, we said we would donate 10% of our profits to the North Carolina Foundation for Public School Children, mainly the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Fund. Today, we’re cutting a check for over $200

Wrapping for Rescues

Thank you to all of our great customers that came out and supported Wrapping for Rescues. You guys/gals brought in your gifts and got them looking holiday official! Because of you, we raised over $350 for the Chatham County Animal Rescue and Education.

If you stopped by, please feel free to post pictures of your gifts. Those girls really did a great job and we hope they can come back next year. It’s such a great cause.

Monday Night Hours for NFL

We are happy to announce the extension of Monday nights open hours to include the Monday night football games. We’ve even brought some new help in to cover the hours. All we ask is that you are a current lounge member and you help support us by making a $15 minimum purchase for the game.

Pardon our Dust!

Hey (politically correct pronoun here),

Pardon our dust as we make room for more seating in the back! Casey and Fred from KWC Estate and Garden have been hard at work cleaning up some overgrowth and making a pathway for some new seating we plan on putting in behind and along side the building. This should turn out to be a great spot to get away from everything while sitting and enjoying a premium cigar. It’ll also be a great place during events to sit with a plate of deliciousness while getting out of the hot sun. Hopefully it won’t take long. Pics will be posted on social media once we’re done!

Back to Normal

COVID restrictions have pretty much all been lifted. Time to get back to normal! We have re-opened the lounge and even started planning some events (make sure you’ve subscribed to the newsletter on the home page to get event emails). Stop in and say hi to old friends… We’ve missed you!

Curbside for you will work as follows:
You may park in the parking area and proceed to the front porch to the window after passing the entrance door. From there we will greet you, take your order and send you away smiling with your purchase.

Carolee Martin of General Cigars hosts Ladies Night at ACL

Tuesday August 21st starting at 6pm, Carolee Martin of General Cigars will be returning to host Ladies Night at Apex Cigar Lounge. During the event, men are welcome to sit out back on our patio on the farm grounds while the ladies enjoy the Lounge.

Carolee has been an avid cigar smoker since 1994 and active in the cigar community since 2008! Come join us at the Lounge while Carolee shares her expertise and experiences in the cigar industry, along with a conversation on all things cigars. Carolee will be more than happy to answer any questions related to cigars. Most importantly, Ladies Night is focused on bringing ladies who enjoy cigars together!
